Move to bring up the light
From daylight to artificial light. Having the right light in the perfect place at the right time, creating that unique view, is what makes the difference.
For more than thirty years, Oscar Nyström has lit some of the most private addresses on the Riviera, the great hotels of Paris, Marrakech and Stockholm, and yachts under sail. The addresses have changed. The method has not.

Approach
Four rules, kept on every project
- I
From the first sketch
We join at the start, alongside the architect, the interior designer and the landscape architect. Light decided late is light compromised.
- II
Only what deserves it
We study a place by day and by night and choose what to reveal. Everything else is allowed to rest in shadow.
- III
The source disappears
Fittings are hidden, recessed or drawn to measure. When the right luminaire does not exist, we design it with the manufacturer.
- IV
Scenes, not switches
Every project is handed over with preset scenes that follow the hour and the season, simple enough to be used every single evening.
Disciplines
From a garden path to a palace ballroom
- 01
Private residences & gardens
Villas, estates and gardens on the Riviera and far beyond, lit to be lived in at every hour and in every season.
- 02
Hotels & palaces
La Mamounia, Royal Mansour, Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme, the Château de Versailles – houses where the night is part of the stay.
- 03
Yachts
Interiors and decks engineered for salt, motion and the few square metres where every detail is seen up close.
- 04
Restaurants, bars & clubs
From Les Caves du Roy to Stockholm’s Café Opera: rooms where light sets the tempo of the night.
- 05
Events & illumination
Winter seasons, galas and festive illuminations, built to be switched on once and remembered for years.

The studio
One signature. A network behind it.
Every commission is led personally by Oscar Nyström. Around him, a team is assembled for the project itself: lighting designers, controls engineers, luminaire makers and partner practices in the major design capitals.
The team grows with the brief, never with overhead, and every decision still crosses one desk.
Discretion is part of the brief. Many of our clients are never named, and never will be.
StudioTwo lights
Between the Riviera and the North
Oscar grew up in La Garde-Freinet, in the hills above Saint-Tropez, and founded his practice there in 1999. Half Swedish and half Provençal, he works between the two light cultures he knows best: the warm, glowing light the North longs for, and the bright generosity of the South.
“In the northern hemisphere, clients prefer a warm, dimmed, glowing light. In the south, they love bright, cool showers of light.”

At sea
The most demanding interior there is
On a yacht every surface is seen up close, every watt is counted, and everything moves. We bring the discipline of the palace to the saloon, the cabin and the deck.
